Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is Uganda’s apex body for the private sector. It is made up of over 200 business associations, corporate bodies and the major public sector agencies that support private sector growth.

Uganda Bankers’ Association is an umbrella organization for licensed commercial banks supervised by Bank of Uganda. UBA was established in 1981 and is currently made up of 35 members.

The mandate of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MoTIC) as derived from the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (1995 – Article 189, Sixth Schedule Sections 11, 12, 13, 20, 23, 25 and 29) is:
“To formulate, review and support policies, strategies, plans and programs that promote and ensure expansion and diversification of trade, cooperatives, environmentally sustainable industrialization, appropriate technology development and transfer to generate wealth for poverty eradication and benefit the country socially and economically.”

The Association of Microfinance Institutions in Uganda (AMFIU) was founded in 1996 and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee without share capital in November 2000.
It is a member-based organisation which provides non-financial services to its members, mainly microfinance institutions.
AMFIU’s overall objective and vision is to establish a strong national network of microfinance institutions, which will provide lateral learning among members and promote professionalism in the industry. AMFIU’s mission is to stimulate and sustain an enhanced private sector development process to facilitate capacity building of members, participate actively in the global microfinance industry, and be a key player in rural and urban transformation of Uganda.
